![]() We follow this guy Yusuke and well he dies in the first ch. Not to mention I know what is to come, and so being more of a fun ghost human stories instead of the battle manga it becomes, I have to say I really enjoyed it. While the plot seems a bit unfocused here as we jump from story to story, it is building up nicely the world and character development for Yusuke. Overall, Togashi was on a roll here in both the art and fun story telling side. Vivid emotions displayed on faces to give off the perfect feeling. It also helps the art still holds up 30 years later. It shows who he is, and even as a tough guy, he still has a heart of gold that made him such a fun character to root for. I personally really enjoyed these sweet short stories of Yusuke helping people. But the story is about him as a spirit trying to do good to see if he's worthy of returning to life. Not a spoiler, it says it is on the back. ![]() To my surprise there is actually a few stories in here never in the anime. But one thing I never owned or read was the manga and this year I collected the entire 19 volume set and finally cracked open volume 1. I owned the whole DVD set, Blu Ray set, and statues. Yu Yu Hakusho remains probably my favorite childhood anime and to this day I still love it and have plenty of fond memories. I highly recommend this manga, even if you've never read a manga in your life, I guarantee that this story will draw you in, capture your feels and have you cheering for Yusuke with all your mite. There are so many feel moments in the first few chapters that my eyes watered a few times. It's a heart string puller that’s for sure. Over all I am happy to finally get around to reading that amazing story. But as the story moves on, and you get deeper into the other volumes, it gets better. The only thing that annoyed me was the art work. That doesn’t bother me I enjoyed those little bits of fluff that wasn't present in the anime. I love this manga, though the beginning does start out a lot slower, then the anime, there isn’t much difference. There are so many times that the anime is extremely different then the manga, I just had to know. Why now? shouts the masses I don't know, I just got that itch. This is the first time I have gotten around to reading the manga. Thought I have watched the anime, more times than I would like to admit. How Kuwabara does this is best summed by him: there’s a reason why he’s the team anchor.I have been a fan of this series for a long time, and no matter how many times I watch the anime It will never stop being fascinating. It is only due to the arrival of an unexpected guest that Kuwabara taps into an incredible amount of power that is able to overwhelm Risho completely, resulting in Team Urameshi moving on to the next round. ![]() Risho reveals his earth powers and completely dominates Kuwabara not only offensively but defensively as well the few attacks Kuwabara gets off are no match for Risho’s armor. However, due to Hiei and the masked fighter being restrained by the Dark Tournament’s “nurse”, Kurama being in no shape to fight, and Yusuke being ruled “unfit” to compete anymore, Kuwabara is the last remaining hope for Team Urameshi to go up against Risho. Having been severely injured by Team Ichigaki, Kuwabara is in absolutely no shape to fight. One of the best come from behind matches in the series, Kuwabara’s match with Risho in the final matchup of the 3rd round of the Dark Tournament is one of Kuwabara’s finest moments.
